SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — The Grayson County Sheriff's Office could soon have another four-legged deputy added to the team.

An anonymous donation of $15,000 was approved at Commissioners Court for the sheriff's office to help acquire another K-9. Patrol Lt. Mark Kosemund said the department's dogs are trained to find narcotics, fugitives and missing people.

"We have one of our dogs that is getting older," he said. "Typically an animal works anywhere from six to eight years, so we're in the process; it will be an internal thing where we start looking at if we're going to replace a dog, or if this is going to be additional with what we're going to be able to do in the future."

Getting a K-9 can take anywhere from four months to a year.
