Wednesday Evening - A healthy cumulus cloud deck will form this evening as the atmosphere becomes more unstable heading into the overnight hours. This instability will favor storm development and sustainability as storms fire along a dry line to our west. These storms will travel east into the I-35 corridor by around midnight tonight. Any storms that gain severe criteria will have all hazards possible (damaging winds up to 70 MPH, quarter to golf ball size hail, and even a tornado or two). We do not anticipate long-track, violent tornadoes with this next round of storms. Flash flooding will also be a concern with any high rainfall rates that fall from these storms. Make sure you are staying weather aware!

Looking Ahead - Texoma rinses and repeats with severe weather chances Thursday through Monday as daily rounds of storms remain possible. The first round of storms arrive off a dry line to our west Thursday evening and night with all hazards possible for the entire region. Damaging winds and large hail appear to be the main threats, but a low, but non-zero tornado threat does exist. We do not anticipate long-track, violent tornadoes with this round of storms. More rain and storm chances return Friday night through the weekend with a good, soaking rainfall to accompany the severe weather threat. No severe weather risk level has been issued for the weekend just yet, but it can certainly happen... it is May after all in Texoma! In lieu of severe weather chances this weekend, make sure you are staying weather aware with our KTEN Weather App and watching the forecast every day! An additional severe weather threat arrives Monday next week with a level 2 out of 5 risk in place along/west of US 69/75. Flash flooding remains a concern with continual threats of heavy rainfall rates over short periods of time. Turn Around, Don't Drown when you encounter a flooded road! Rainfall totals could reach 2-4" through midweek next week. Temperatures remain seasonable - in the 70s and 80s through the start of next week. A bit of a warm up looks possible by midweek next week with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
