ADA, Okla. (KTEN) — A normal meal service at Blue Moon Cafe in Ada changed in a second on Friday when a sport utility vehicle plowed through the restaurant, forcing customers and staff to act at a moment's notice.

"I was scared. I was very scared," said owner Clif Saint.

Ada police said the SUV hit the front facade of the restaurant in the North Hills Shopping Center at around 4:30 p.m. Friday; almost all of the vehicle entered the building.

The police report said the driver told law enforcement that he had put his foot on the brake and the vehicle continued forward, striking the building.

"I was right next door. I got called by my employees and I came running over and saw a vehicle 80 percent of the way into my restaurant,” Saint recalled. “There was glass shattered everywhere. One of the hardest things is thinking what could have happened."

Two people were injured in the crash: the driver and one diner guest.

"It could've been worse,” said Ada Fire Chief Rob Johnson. “The vehicle was actually able to stop just as it entered into the business. ."

It turned out to be a quick turnaround for Clif Saint and his staff.

"We've got some great contractors here locally. [They] immediately patched up the front windows and helped us to get everything cleaned up,” he said. “Then we came in and had a work day the day after, got the restaurant reset, and were open again on Sunday."
