RAVIA, Okla. (KTEN) — Gunshots rang out along Dabney Street in Ravia on Sunday night, and one person was taken into custody.

Johnston County deputies were told the suspect was intoxicated and allegedly firing a weapon at people on their property around 8 o'clock.

"I'd just got through mowing and showering, and walked back out and I heard about — maybe five or six shots, real fast — like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom," said neighbor John Coffman.

Deputies said when they tried to make contact with the suspect — later identified as Michael Jay Dove, 51 — he barricaded himself in a home for about two hours.

"What I heard was, about 10 o'clock I got bullhorns outside, police everywhere with lights, my dogs going crazy," said. neighbor Jerry Abbott. "Apparently, one of my neighbors was drunk and shooting a gun. My thought was, 'Okay, the cops have whoever it was cornered, and I'm going back to bed.'"

Three children inside that house were all rescued without injury as law enforcement surrounded the house and arrested the suspect.

Dove is facing multiple charges, including assault and felonious discharge of a firearm.

Johnston County Sheriff Gary Dodd said his personnel were assisted by colleagues from neighboring Love County.
