KINGSTON, Okla. (KTEN) — A Marine veteran from Minnesota is walking 1,000 miles to raise awareness for veterans living with trauma.

Daniel Crawford is a 54-year-old vet who suffered from mental health issues himself before he was saved by the 23rd Veteran organization.

Crawford told KTEN, "The 23rd veteran is somebody that's been though the darkness and is out there to help the ones that are still struggling."

The group helps veterans dealing with depression and anxiety.

"I am the 23rd veteran," Crawford said.

Now, two years sober, he has set out to walk 1,000 miles. his stop in Kingston, Oklahoma marks 279 miles left on his Journey to Marble Falls, Texas.
