ADA, Okla. (KTEN) — After last week's record-breaking hail storm, auto repair shops all over Ada are trying to maintain a flood of damaged cars trying to get them back to their owners as soon as possible.

Severe weather that hit much of southern Oklahoma included hailstones in Ada up to five and a quarter inches wide. The aftermath of these stones has left many Oklahomans without transportation.

"That has been the biggest impact is just the impact to drivability overall.” Said Arron Manuel. Manuel is the owner of Manuel Collision Center in Ada. “A lot of broken glass, deeming vehicles unsafe to drive, that has left a lot of people without their vehicles."

Since the storm, shops around the city have been overwhelmed with customers hoping to get their cars back on the road.

"Since the day after the storm, that morning until today, we have seen around 350 vehicles across our service drive." Stated Manuel.

Auto dealers were greatly impacted by the storm as well, with dealerships reporting hundreds of unsold cars undriveable due to damages, some of which will cost thousands of dollars to repair.

"22 years in the car business, I've never seen anything like this.” Said Ada Nissan General Manager Brandon McLellan. “As far as hail damage goes. Well over 150 cars were involved, and we've seen anywhere from 10 to up to 20,000 dollars in damage."

Although local shops have been slammed with business, they encourage drivers affected by the storm to stay close to home.

"having the ability to have your warranty issues or anything like that taken care of by local providers, we would just recommend anybody out there to just consider local." Manuel stated.
