ADA, Okla.  (KTEN) — The Ada Cougars decided to stay in house with their next head football coach. They made the hire of Wade Boyles official on Wednesday afternoon.

Boyles is currently the school’s assistant athletic director and has been at Ada since 2011. He has served as an assistant for their varsity squad since 2013. He had previously spent two years coaching at the junior high before that.

He does have head coaching experience having led Coalgate for one season back in 2010.

In response to the hire, Ada Athletic Director Christie Jennings provided the following statement to KTEN:

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to announce that Wade Boyles is our new head football coach. Coach Boyles has been on the Ada Cougar football staff for several years. He has always demonstrated a unique ability to unite and motivate not only student athletes but also members of the faculty and community. Wade is a hard worker and willing to do anything to make the Ada Athletic Program the best it can be. He is full of experience and has gained a vast knowledge of football throughout the years. He is a kid magnet and a program first guy. I feel confident that his work ethic, positivity and leadership skills make him the right fit for Ada."
