MADILL, Oklahoma (KTEN)-  The coaching carousel in Oklahoma was spinning on Monday as Madill announced John Heavner as its new head football coach.

Heavner had been on staff at Denison since 2019. He also coached at Southeastern for five seasons before that as the quarterback coach for four years and the receivers coach for one.

He replaces Chad Speer who moved into an athletic-director-only role this offseason. Heavner will look to get the Wildcats moving back in the right direction this fall after a 2-8 campaign in 2023.
