TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) — Water faucets were running dry in Tishomingo on Tuesday morning following a water main break.

City officials said a 10-inch main ruptured around 5 a.m. north of the water plant.

"Due to the area and terrain of the line there, it was difficult locating the leak in the dark," said Public Works director Marlon Sullivan in a statement on Facebook. "Our crews have been on the site since approximately 6:30 a.m. We are working diligently to get this repaired, as we know it limited the water to no water East of Pennington Creek."

Sullivan added that there was no timeframe for repairs to the water main.

The Johnston County Courthouse delayed its opening Tuesday until water service could be restored.

Officials issued a precautionary boil order in Tishomingo for 48 hours after water service is restored.
