TIOGA, Texas (KTEN) — A senior prank at Tioga High School left the library in a shambles.

Staffers discovered a scene of destruction last Friday morning. In a letter to parents, Tioga Independent School District Superintendent Josh Ballinger acknowledged that while the yearly pranks as a long-standing tradition, this one went too far.

The majority of the damage happened in the library, with many books permanently ruined.

While pranks are not sanctioned by the district, they do have informal guidelines for what is appropriate.

"If we provide some guidelines and expectations, usually whatever group it may be over the last seven years will stay within those guidelines," Ballinger said.

Tioga ISD is conducting an investigation and reviewing security cameras to figure out who was involved.

Ballinger said discipline would most likely include community service and restitution.
