DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — On its way from Elk City to Duncan, Oklahoma, the new Chick-fil-A food truck stopped in Durant.

As you might expect, it drew a crowd.

"Started out with a bang," said Jonathan Drake, general manager for the company's Lawton restaurant.  "It's been about a cool 150 to 200 people the whole time we've been here."

Some brought folding chairs to help cope with a wait of more than an hour to be served.

"Better than standing around all the time you know?" said diners Anthony and Jeremy.

This food truck is the latest way Chick-fil-A is making sure the Sooner State eats more chicken

"We're able to serve food on the premises instead of having to prepare in our restaurant and then bringing it out and back," Drake said.

A spokesperson for the City of Durant explained that the location at Main Street and Radio Road was selected specifically to accommodate the expected crowds, and because there was a nearby public restroom as a city ordinance requires.

"We ain't got no Chick-fil-A, so we gotta get that," said diner Jaden.

"Gotta have Chick-fil-A," added Anthony. "It doesn't come in very often."

Whether they ordered nuggets or a sandwich, one question was on everyone's mind: Is Chick-fil-A coming to Durant?

"Believe that Durant is probably a city that they're looking at for sure," said Drake.

The city said while they are always looking to add new businesses and grow the local economy, there are no specific plans for a permanent Chick-fil-A restaurant in the immediate future.

Until then, the nearest location is across the border in Denison.
