DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Denison High School has issued an all-clear after receiving a report about a possible weapon on campus Friday morning.

Student resource officers apprehended a student who was linked to the report.

"During the process of searching the student, an artificial weapon was found in the student’s possession," the Denison Independent School District said in a written statement. "Denison ISD is working with Denison PD to address the issue."

School officials later described the device as a replica of a small toy gun.

"There is no threat to the school. There's no threat to the district. It seems to be just a kid bringing a toy to school to show one of his friends," said Denison ISD director of security Michael DeHaven.

The high school had extra security on campus for the remainder of the day as classes continued as scheduled. Denison police have taken over the case.
