Ada police officer recovering after falling on ice

ADA, Okla., (KTEN) — Ada Police Department Capt. Casey Northcutt was seriously injured after a fall due to icy conditions on January 30. 

Northcutt has worked for the department for 25 years, and is a father, husband, and grandfather. 

Northcutt was transported by ambulance from Mercy Ada to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for emergency surgery. The transfer would have been made by helicopter airlift, but weather conditions were not favorable. 

Surgeons had to fuse C2 through C7 in Northcutt's cervical spine. He was in the intensive care unit until February 4. He will remain in some form of medical care for at least 30 days.

While Northcutt's condition has improved, he can still not complete day-to-day tasks by himself and requires around-the-clock care.
