Gunter football fans can get their own championship rings
GUNTER, Texas (KTEN) – After a picture-perfect season from the Gunter Tigers, the team is letting its fans get a ring... just like the players.
The Tigers avenged their state championship loss from a year ago with a 42-7 victory over the Poth Pirates on December 15.
Being a fan — whether you showed up to all of their games or rooted from home — plays a big part in the team's success. So residents who wanted a commemorative ring were asked to visit the high school Friday morning to place their orders.
“Here at Gunter, it’s a community, a family. It’s more than just a team, and the coaches and program that had something to do with the state championship,” said Assistant Coach Daryl Hellman. “Everybody had a hand in it, so we wanted to open it up to everybody that had a part in it.”
The school doesn’t know exactly what the ring will look like, because it’s still being designed.
Anyone who missed out on Friday's ordering session should contact the school to see whether there will be a future opportunity.
