Denison vendors gather to celebrate Small Business Saturday
DENISON, Texas (KTEN)—Zig Zag Galleries in downtown Denison hosted over a dozen small businesses in celebration of Small Business Saturday.
As part of Denison Main Street's Shop Small Saturday event, visitors got to enjoy complimentary mimosas and browse the vendors' offerings.
Small Business Saturday celebrates local businesses and their contributions to their communities.
"I think honoring small businesses is the way to go," business owner Mary Cobine said. "I mean, we're the economy here. Bring it on down, bring it down to the small businesses."
Cobine took up crocheting during the pandemic, and combined it with her love of pottery to create high thyme designs. She says the most rewarding part of owning a small business is the connections that she makes.
"It's a lot of hard work, but it pays off, because I've met some amazing people—people who are interested in learning the art, people who are interested in finding unique pieces," Cobine said.
For artist and business owner Peyton Roberts, the biggest reward is the creative outlet that she finds in her work.
"T-shirts have been around forever, of course, but being able to have my own designs on them makes me super happy," Roberts said. "Actually having people come to me and say 'wow that's really awesome and really cute,' it just makes me so much happier."
