SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Two days after asking homes and businesses across much of Sherman to boil tap water before consumption, the city lifted its advisory on Thursday.

The notice was issued after a 24-inch water main ruptured along FM 1417 on Tuesday. That led to a reduction in water pressure, which, in turn, could promote harmful bacteria or microbes in the water.

Repairs to the line took longer than anticipated, the city said.

Tap water was confirmed safe to drink after tests came back Thursday morning.
