DENISON, Texas (KTEN) -- Every fall Friday night is celebrated on the football field in Denison, but this week, the city is coming together to celebrate something more than just a district game.

"It's not just Denison High School. It's not just the football team. It's everyone coming together to celebrate a cool little town," said Yellow Jacket TV advisor Taylor Swoopes.

The city of Denison has plenty on tap to commemorate the city's 150th birthday.

"The players will have a 'Denison 150' patch on all of their jerseys. For the coin toss, we will be using one of our commemorative Denison 150 coins we had made for this year," said Denison city spokesperson Emily Agans.

They're teaming up with Denison ISD and local businesses to make this night one to remember.

Denison's ISD's Yellow Jacket TV crew will produce a live show on the big screen at Munson Stadium to show how the city came to be over the past 150 years.

"We have the opportunity to speak with Mayor Gott and former Mayor Johnson the past few months in preparing from this event, and we filmed fun facts with them," Swoopes said. "We have cool videos we will play before the boys run out and before halftime. We have some trivia clips we will play through out the game."

And whether you're a past, present, or future Yellow Jacket, this party is for you.

"We want everybody to come together and celebrate how special 150 years is, and to also celebrate where we are and where we're going," Agans said.

This celebration continues Saturday morning at 10:15 back at Munson Stadium.
