GUNTER, Texas (KTEN) — Gunter city officials said Friday that one of its two broken water wells is expected to be repaired by the middle of next week.

Emergency water restrictions continue in effect as a single well is serving Gunter's 1,632 utility customers.

"Every drop counts," the city said in its Friday water briefing. "Please continue all conservation efforts and do not waste water. Outdoor watering is NOT allowed."

The City of Sherman is lending a hand to provide additional water sources. In the event of a fire emergency, the Grayson County Tender Task Force will be called out, and neighboring fire departments will also support Gunter.

Contractors are working to install new pump motors at the two disabled wells.
