GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KTEN) — Red clothing donation boxes are popping up around Grayson County.

The boxes belong to an organization in the Dallas area called Y-Recycle. It also operates under the name J.A.Y. Recycle.

One property owner said he did not give permission for the donation box to be placed on his property, and did not know it was there.

"It would be considered an abandoned property type deal," said Grayson County Sheriff's Office Capt. Marty Hall. "In essence, let's say that would be like someone coming and putting a couch in your front yard."

Hall said items dropped off at these red receptacles are not distributed in this area.

"If they're adamant about donating locally, then look at places like Salvation Army, Four Rivers, crisis center, different things like that," Hall said.

Property owners who want boxes removed from their land need to contact the organization directly. If that fails, the next step is to contact an attorney.
