ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was shot near the intersection of 12th Avenue NW and Rockford Road in Ardmore on Monday evening.

Police Chief Kevin Norris said officers responded to a report of shots being fired around 9:20 p.m. They found the female victim, who was initially taken to a local hospital and was then transferred by air to OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

The victim was said to be in stable but critical condition on Tuesday morning. Her name was not released pending family notifications.

Norris said there are some persons of interest in connection with the shooting and witness interviews are underway.
