GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KTEN) — The United Way of Grayson County hopes to help families cut the cost of a doctor’s visit at a Community Health Fair on Friday.

"To make sure that every kid has the same starting chance to be healthy and be successful later in their lives," said United Way’s Katherine Cox.

Getting your health, hearing, vision and speech checked out could cost you; this free event aims to eliminate that expense.

"Vision is going to be offered through the Lions Club, and the speech and hearing screening are going to be offered through the Rehab Center," Cox said.

They'll also have staffers making sure parents are properly fitting their kids into car seats.

"There's going to be a limited number of free car seats for car seat checks to make sure the car seats are installed properly and make sure they're safe for children to ride in," Cox said.

And while the adults deal with all the important stuff, United Way is working to keep children entertained.

"There will be the reading booth with books donated from the Sherman Public Library for kids to read," Cox said. “And there will be a bouncy house for them to play in."

If you'd like to take advantage of these services, swing by The Rehabilitation Center at 1216 West Hillcrest Drive in Sherman on Friday afternoon  from 3 to 6 p.m.
