DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — BrucePac is an Oregon-based food processing company that expanded to Durant eight years ago.

And now they're getting bigger.

BrucePac broke ground Wednesday on a $22.5 million expansion that is expected to create 100 new jobs for company that already employs 200.

Work on this expansion is expected to take somewhere between 15 to 18 months to complete. Jeff Grohs, president and CEO of the family-owned firm said this is a big step to help BrucePac's production and customer base.

"We're looking at some new capabilities that will help us provide new products to our customers as well as some automation that will help us drive efficiency and improve our cost and competitiveness within the industry," he said.

Grohs said BrucePac has already invested more than $45 million at its Durant facility, and the expansion is being welcomed by the City of Durant as part of its program to boost local business.
