DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Dozens of Texoma seniors cast their lines at Waterloo Lake Regional Park Friday morning at the 28th Annual Tri-County Senior Fishing Festival.

Hosted by the Sherman Senior Center, this event gives seniors from Grayson, Cooke and Fannin counties a chance to make some big catches... and to win prizes.

"This tournament is fabulous," said Ernest Sparacin. "We live in Denison, heard this on the radio, and registered up. This is a fabulous, fabulous event."

"I was skimming through Facebook and saw a fishing tournament for seniors 50 and above," Tammy Ramsey added. "My husband and I both met that criteria, and I thought it would be fun!"

The senior center teamed up with Denison Parks and Recreation and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and several sponsors provided raffle prizes for the anglers.

"We were super excited this year to have everybody come out and have a great turnout and have a lot of fun and get to fish and win some prizes and awards," said Deena Lowry, the activities coordinator at the Sherman Senior Center.

These Texomans were glad to be back out on the water.

"Everybody has kind of been locked in, and hasn't been able to do anything," Ramsey said. "It's nice just to get out in the air and get some sunshine."
