SHERMAN, Texas -- A senior citizen is recovering after she was robbed and then dragged behind the perpetrator's vehicle.

It happened Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Sherman Walmart at the intersection of US 75 and US 82.

Police said the 71-year old victim was loading groceries into her car when a man grabbed her purse. She tried stopping him and was dragged for a short distance.

Police said the victim sustained minor injuries.

The bandit is described as white, medium build, clean-shaven and wearing a blue hat. He was driving a gray Ford Escape.

Sherman police said the incident may be related to another robbery on April 22 when a man nabbed a purse from a shopping cart.

"The sense of circumstances are very similar," said police spokesman Sgt. Brett Mullen. "We are seeing if they both were connected, so that's still under investigation at this time."
