DENISON, Texas -- With Easter just around the corner, Ruiz Foods of Denison donated more than 80 Easter baskets to the Grayson County Child Welfare Board for kids in foster homes.

"They are able to have something on Easter morning, and we enjoy the community becoming involved and supporting those kids in our foster homes," said company spokeswoman Jeanne Ulcak.

From coloring books to toys to gift cards, Ruiz Foods employees donated everything in the baskets that catered to boys, girls and all ages.

"Ruiz has worked with our Grayson County Child Welfare Board to provide for the children in so that they at least have a little something from their foster parents and from the community; so that they are supported and know that people in the community care about them," said Amy Whaley of Child Protective Services.

"Everyone kept bringing in more, and we were able to fulfill our original order for the 77 area foster kids," Ulcak said. "We were able to give them five additional baskets that in case they had any other children that entered into the foster care system."

The baskets were delivered on Monday afternoon to make sure they get to the kids in time for Easter. It's the second year Ruiz Foods has made this commitment.

"We can come together and make the kids' Easter morning a little brighter," Ulcak said. "This is always a very fun thing to do every year; we plan on hopefully being able to do this again next year."
