ANNA, Texas -- There's good news for commuters who travel south of Sherman on US 75.

A widening project between Anna and Melissa is essentially finished. Now the focus has turned to the access roads that parallel the highway.

The service road will be closed north of Foster Crossing. North of FM 455, the service road will be northbound only. Access to US 75 will be possible north of Mantua Road.

While there is a lot of construction remaining, no additional major highway closures are scheduled.

Safety remains a concern in the construction zone. On Monday night, one police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver, but did not suffer major injuries.

"Get off your devices and please please slow down," Anna police Sgt. Chad Butler urged. "Pay attention to what's going on around you. Basically, drive for you and the other drivers."

Anna officers are looking for the driver of a sliver four-door car. If you know anything about the hit-and-run, call the department. No

There's no word yet on when those access roads will be reopened, and still no firm date on when the US 75 widening project will move north into Grayson County.
