WHITESBORO, TX - The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Concealed Handgun License instructor, after they say a man was accidentally shot over the weekend during a class.

On Monday KTEN News was told the man is expected to be okay, but it was a very close call. The bullet missed his heart by 3 inches and now the instructor could be facing criminal charges.

The sheriffs office says it happened at the Whitesboro Rodeo Arena on Saturday around 2:00 p.m.

They say a bullet hit a Sadler man in his twenties while he was fishing in a pond about 100 yards away from the gun class.

Lieutenant Ricky Wheeler says the bullet hit the man's chest near his arm and exited through his back, but he was treated and released from the hospital.

Wheeler says the instructor, Rick Ramsey, is not certified to teach CHL classes in Texas.

We talked to ramsey and he claims he's a certified instructor with the NRA, but the sheriff's office says that doesn't mean he can teach CHL classes in the state of Texas.

Investigators are working with the Grayson County District Attorney's Office to see what criminal charges they can pursue.
