GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KTEN) — The Howe Fire Department and emergency medical personnel responded to an aircraft emergency in the 900 block of FM 902 on Thursday night.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the pilot of the Globe GC-1B Swift aircraft as 78-year-old Neal Craig from Melissa, Texas. He was taken to Medical City McKinney with stable injuries.

A 15-year-old passenger was not injured when the single-engine aircraft made a hard landing in a pasture between Howe and Dorchester, around 8 miles south of Sherman.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the aircraft crashed after take-off. 

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have taken over the investigation. 

According to records, the plane was built in 1946 and is the same age as its pilot.
