HOWE, Texas (KTEN) — A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Howe early Tuesday morning.

Howe police said the 55-year-old victim — identified as Dean Lynn Grauman of Trenton — was hit by a white Ford F-150 just after 5 a.m. in the 200 block of West Haning Street, a residential neighborhood where the posted speed limit is 35 mph.

Police said Grauman was securing a load of tree branches into the bed of his truck when another truck driven by Howe resident Helen Ruth Landry, 63, hit Grauman and his truck.

Grauman was pronounced dead at the scene. Landry's truck overturned after the collision. She was removed from the wreckage and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Landry was cooperating with investigators, who said there are no initial indications that she had been speeding or under the influence.

Howe police are working with their Sherman colleagues to investigate what happened.
