DENISON, Texas (KTEN) - Staff with the Denison Public Library held a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the public into their new library garden.

In honor if the 34th anniversary of the American's with Disabilities Act, the garden is now open for outdoor reading and library programs.

Denison High School students in a special education program have worked since fall of 2023 to build the garden.

Greg Mitchell, the library director told KTEN he's always wanted to make this happen, but the joint effort of local organizations finally made it possible.

"This has been a dream of mine, for as long as I've been here at Denison, 5 years," Mitchell said. "All the plants will continue to grow as the children continue to come in and others come to the library and grow as well."

Workforce Solutions Texoma, Twin Oaks Nursery, Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation, and Denison ISD all donated time, resources, and hard work to make it all possible
