DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — From adding more police to improving streets, water lines and other infrastructure, the city is focused on new projects for the upcoming fiscal year as its population swells.

Denison city officials and leaders gathered last week to discuss the 2025 budget. Interim City Manager Bobby Atteberry said priorities include parks and recreation upgrades, planning for growth, and infrastructure.

Early models suggest the population of Denison could double in the coming years, thanks to big developments like Preston Harbor.

"And they start building 300 to 700 homes a year, that will certainly make the population boom... and not just Preston Harbor, but the land in that part of the city," Atteberry said. "There are some large tracts out there that we're talking to that are also going to be developing in that area."
