ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — Ardmore police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the 1100 block of Martin Luther King Drive early Thursday morning, that left two in the hospital. The shooting occurred around 3:00 A.M.

"Around 20-30 rounds were fired into a residence in the area.” Said Ardmore Police Sergeant Jake Glazener. “Two people were injured and they were both transported to outside hospitals in the Oklahoma City area. Both are in stable condition, from what we know."

This is just one example of a series of violent crimes throughout Ardmore.

"We do see a decent amount of violent crime and property crime in that area.” Glazener stated. “There's been a problem with gang violence in Ardmore for a while, people who have been here for a while know that, and in that area of town, that's where it's most common"

Neighbors got an early morning wake-up call which led to a first-hand look of the shooting.

"It was like 'bah bah bah', it was going on for minutes.” Said 9-year-old Jonathan Valdez. He and his 11-year-old brother Josue were both awakened by the sound of gunfire.

"I saw a detective walking around too, right here in the driveway, like I was kinda scared too." Josue said.

The shooting has also left some, like Candy Chamberlain, concerned what could happen next in their neighborhood.

"When it starts getting dark, we do not sit in our living room.” She said. “The shootings will start, and a bullet will go right through our glass if we're not careful."

No arrests related to the shooting have been made.

Ardmore police are asking for any information that could lead this investigation to a close.

"Sometimes, people have things that they don't think will be a big deal, or a big help, and it turns out being a very big deal, so please, reach out to us."
