ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — Another construction project is underway at Ardmore Municipal Airport.

The South Cargo Apron Project will cost around $5.3 million, and will add a new concrete surface to the southern side of the airport, allowing larger planes to land and deliver cargo.

This project is part of a larger plan for renovations, with a $60 million price tag.

“This is a World War II-era asset that has a lot of infrastructure, but a lot of old infrastructure,” said  Ardmore Development Authority president and CEO Bill Murphy. “It's basically tearing out what was there and reconstructing it to accommodate the aircraft."

The ADA is expecting to have the South Cargo Apron Project completed before the end of the year.
