SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Downtown Sherman now has a "Main Street."

Tourism officials unveiled new signage Friday morning at the intersection of Houston and Travis streets. It's the first of seven signs that will appear this summer along Travis between the Central Fire Station one and the Public Library.

"We're super special in that we are a county seat, and we get to have a true square is super cool," said Sherman Main Street and Tourism manager Sarah McRae. "But also what we consider to be our Main Street is Travis, so that portion of Travis will have this supplemental sign designating it to be a special Main Street."

The new "Main Street" is mainly for show; the city isn't changing any of the mailing addresses on Travis Street.
