TOM BEAN, Texas (KTEN)- The Tom Bean Baseball team is re-writing the school record books.

The Tomcats are in the third round of playoffs for the first time in school history. And they have gotten there in dominant fashion.

Tom Bean has swept both Alvord and Cooper in the first two rounds of the playoffs. In those four games, the Tomcats have allowed just two total runs.

They have now won 11 games straight overall.

This week, they will play a best of three series against Era in Sherman starting on Friday.

Now, these two are familiar with each other. The Tomcats beat Era twice in district play.

And they are looking forward to the challenge of battling the Hornets again with their season on the line.

"Having your team and your town right behind you the whole time like they have been this year in playoffs, it feels great," Tom Bean junior utility player Reid Sharp said. "Can't wait. I feel like the atmosphere is going to be awesome."

"It's a great feeling. We expect everyone to come out. 10 minutes down the road, it's going to be a great atmosphere. We're ready to keep on making history," sophomore shortstop Donnie Hooten said.

However, they know it won't come easy.

"The first game we played them [Era], we were losing going in late in the game and we ended up coming back," Tom Bean head coach Austin Stone said. "They're going to be wanting to get revenge and beat us, and we're just going to need to keep playing the same baseball we've been playing."
