ATOKA, Oklahoma (KTEN)- Abbi Rowell has starred for the Atoka Wampus Cats as a defender for their girls soccer team.

But now, she's switching it up, signing with Drury University in Springfield, Missouri to play lacrosse.

The Drury coach puts an emphasis on athleticism, signing a couple of athletes this class that haven't necessarily played lacrosse before.

But Rowell thinks it'll be a smooth transition as she begins a new adventure this fall.

"I play soccer, and the defense is a similar kind of aspect, so it crosses over very well," Rowell said. "The coach from Drury reached out to my coach, they ended up talking, we spoke, I tour, fell in love, and that's how that came about."
