DENISON, Texas (KTEN)- The Denison Lady Jackets won a 15-12 thriller over Sherman on Tuesday night.

Sherman came back from a nine run deficit only for Denison to score the final three runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth.

The win means Denison is in a three-way tie for third with Sherman and Princeton at the halfway point of district play.

And for a squad that missed the playoffs a year ago, they're feeling good after scoring 28 runs in their last two games.

"Our offense has been really good this year, and we have a lot of motivation," Denison senior second baseman Maddison Luper said. "Even when our defense isn't there, our offense is and that's something we can always lean back on."

Head coach Chris Anderson is in his first year leading the Lady Jackets, and he likes what he's seeing from his players.

"We talk about getting into the dance a lot. We haven't been there in two years. My daughter being apart of this program the last four years, I've been able to see these girls grow," Anderson said. "I think we have the right talent to do it. I think this is the year we're going to be able to get in there and make some noise, so it's going to be fun."
