Calera man sentenced for child sexual assault
(KTEN) — A Calera man has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The victim told Sherman police about the sexual assault by Jimmy Dale Robertson in November 2020.
Robertson, 42, was arrested in June of last year after prosecutors said he admitted to his crimes in messages posted to Facebook and Snapchat that included inappropriate photographs.
"The actions of this defendant are unthinkable and despicable. We are hopeful that the children are able to heal and move forward now,” said Grayson County Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Smith in a written statement.
Under terms of his sentencing, Robertson must serve at least half of his sentence before being considered for parole. He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
