DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Denison firefighters battled flames early Tuesday at a 94-year-old house at the corner of West Day Street and South Scullin Avenue.

"I looked out the window, and that's when I saw the house was engulfed in flames up in the front," said neighbor Linda Fine.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 5 a.m.

"It was like full in flames... like way above the roof... and I didn't see the homeowners or anybody over there," she said. "There were two hook-and-ladder trucks, three fire and rescue trucks, two police cars, 10 firefighters."

According to a neighbor or the home, it took firefighters about two hours to extinguish the flames in the 1,300 square foot residence that was built in 1930.

The homeowner was at work when the fire started. He told KTEN that his property was insured, and he plans to make repairs as soon as possible.
