Chemical leak in AllianceHealth Durant operating room
DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — AllianceHealth Durant experienced a leak in its main hospital operating room earlier this week.
The hospital provided KTEN with the following statement:
"Employee and patient safety are always our top priorities. Earlier this week, the main hospital operating room’s sterile processing system experienced a leak that allowed steam containing water treatment products to escape into the air, creating an odor near the hospital’s surgery department.
We have taken several steps this week to remediate the situation, including having air quality sampling conducted by an independent industrial hygienist this morning which found all areas of the hospital are within normal ranges for work and care. In the coming days, a vendor specializing in deep cleaning will be onsite to ready the operating room and sterile processing area to restart surgeries next week.
We are communicating regularly with our employees and physicians, and we appreciate their support as we work to address this situation."
