Gunter advances to state title game again with win over Canadian
ABILENE, Texas (KTEN) - For the third consecutive season, the Gunter Tigers are headed to the 3A(II) state title game at AT&T Stadium.
Gunter beat familiar foe Canadian 38-17 Friday night in the state semifinals. The win marks Gunter's fifth over the Wildcats since 2016. Gunter quarterback Walker Overman led the way with three touchdowns, two of which came on the ground.
"Really proud of our guys," said Gunter head coach Jake Fieszel. "Ultimately, we kept on playing, kept on fighting and we pulled it out."
The Tigers will now try to go back-to-back for the first time in school history against Tidehaven on Thursday at 7 p.m. at AT&T Stadium.
