SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — On the second day of the Beau Watson murder trial,  prosecutors began building their case against him.

Jurors heard Watson's account of the fatal shooting of Jeremy Obar in 2020.

The state played a recording of an interview between Sherman police and Watson on the day of the shooting, and called in detectives to testify about the investigation procedures.

Watson's lawyers are laying the foundation for a self-defense argument. Watson claims Obar lunged at him.

Obar was a former boyfriend of Watson's ex-wife, Elizabeth, who still lived in Watson's home at the time of the shooting.

Watson said Obar had made threats against him in the past, and was at their home just days before the fatal gunfire.
