(KTEN) — Oklahoma Gas & Electric is distributing $30,000 in grants to educators across the state.

Teachers can apply for a project to be funded on DonorsChoose; then OG&E will match donations from local businesses or generous Oklahomans.

"We know that the teachers in those communities are spending on average $500 to $1,000 to help their classrooms, and we want to come alongside those teachers and help them," said OG&E community outreach manager Lindsay Laird.

Grants will go to projects related to math, science, technology, engineering, and reading.
