ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — The City of Ardmore will participate in the next session of the Oklahoma Municipal League's leadership development class, a year-long venture.

Robert Newell, Ardmore's Chief Information Officer, was selected to represent the city as one of 20 municipalities to attend the conference.

City leaders will learn how to handle issues that government agencies face on a regular basis.

"How do we communicate better with the community? That seemed to be a general consensus throughout the group as we were talking," Newell said. "We have Facebook and Instagram and any social media platform, but we're missing people."

Newell adds that he'll be visiting municipalities as a part of the training, which continues through next September.

Other southern Oklahoma cities represented at the conference include Pauls Valley, Broken Arrow and Tishomingo.
