(KTEN)—The Red River chapter of Samaritan's Purse is preparing to kick off its annual donation campaign.

Operation Christmas Child, a division of Samaritan's Purse, packs and ships shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to children in need across the world.

Drop-off locations open Monday, November 13 and run through November 20.

Some of the affiliated churches host packing parties, where donors go down the line and pick from pre-selected items.

"They'll come in and receive their shoebox; they pray over the shoebox," explained volunteer Gail Gower. "There's school supplies to go in it, there's personal hygiene items, there's 'wow' toys... just come and fill a shoebox."

Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison hosts its packing party on Saturday, November 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Operation Christmas Child is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
