5.3 magnitude quake shakes West Texas

MENTONE, Texas (KTEN) – A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook west Texas in the early morning hours of November 8.
The quake struck about 23 miles west-southwest from Mentone, Texas, around 4:27 AM local time. Mentone, located in Loving County, Texas, is the seat of the least populous county in the United States with a permanent population.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a M5.2 south of Carlsbad, New Mexico at 3:27 AM. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service office serving El Paso, Texas observed shaking in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.
Santa Teresa is located more than 200 miles west of where the earthquake was detected.
As of Wednesday morning, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
