SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Sherman police say a domestic violence incident resulted in a fatal shooting Wednesday morning.

The gunfire erupted in what neighbors called a quiet residential neighborhood in the 4500 block of Hawk Lane, in the city's southwest quadrant.

Investigators said they found 47-year-old Anthony Jones Sr. in front of the two-story home when they arrived at 10:39 a.m. after 911 dispatchers received a hangup call from the address.

As Anthony Jones was detained, police located Crystal Jones inside; she was dead from a gunshot wound.

Sherman police said Crystal Jones was fatally shot in a home on Hawk Lane on October 25, 2023.

"The evidence and information uncovered during the investigation indicated Anthony was responsible for Crystal's death," police said in a written statement.

Anthony Jones was arrested after a murder warrant was obtained. Tax records indicate that Crystal Jones was the sole owner of the Hawk Lane residence.

KTEN observed what appeared to be family members at the location, and vehicles were removed from the property. Investigators were asking neighbors if they might have any surveillance video they could share.

Animal services arrived around 3 p.m. to remove several dogs from the residence.
