Police on alert for armed suspect near Chickasaw campus in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — There was extra police activity Tuesday morning around the Chickasaw Nation campus in Ardmore after reports that an armed robbery suspect from Lincoln County could be in the vicinity.
"Facilities in close proximity are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety and security of patients, students and other clients," Lighthorse police Chief Charles Palmer said in a written statement. "Lighthorse and other law enforcement agencies are diligently searching for the suspect and making every effort to ensure public safety."
A short time later, Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant said the increased law enforcement presence had been based on a false claim.
KTEN observed several police officers near the entrance of the Chickasaw Nation Health Clinic on the campus on West Veterans Boulevard.
On Monday, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office issued an alert for a burglary suspect who was described as armed and dangerous.
