ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — Any adult 24 and older just needs a library card to be able to apply for the Southern Oklahoma Library Systems high school diploma program.

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries pays for the Excel Adult High School program, making it completely free for students.

The program is self-paced and online with the requirement of completing 21 credits or less if students have transfer credits from their old high school transcript.

"I'll call them and bring them in for an interview so we can just talk to them a little bit about the program, tell them what is required of them, see if it's a good fit, because it is online," explained program manager Alyson Blankenship. "You kind of have to be a self-starter and able to do that in an online environment... isn't always the best for everyone."

The program can be completed at any of the eight Southern Oklahoma Library System branches in Ardmore, Atoka, Davis, Healdton, Tishomingo, Marietta, Sulphur or Wilson.
