North Texas celebrates Constitution Week
(KTEN)—Constitution Week runs through Saturday, September 23, celebrating one of the nation's most important founding documents.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Preston Trail Chapter is assisting with several celebratory events throughout the week.
Denison starts off the week with Mayor Janet Gott reading the Constitution at the Denison City Council meeting Monday night at 6 p.m.
Pottsboro picks the events back up on Thursday at 5 p.m. with a children's event at the Pottsboro Library, including guest readers in costume and a poster contest, in collaboration with the DAR.
The week wraps up on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. with a party at Friendship Park in Pottsboro. The mayor will present a proclamation and showcase Gov. Greg Abbott's proclamation.
Recognition of Constitution Week was signed into law in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was born in Denison.
